A Message from the Board of Wesley Bible College

Wesley Bible College

DATE:  January 20, 2009
FROM:  Rev. Rick Hutchison, College Board Chairman
Wesley Bible College, Uzhgorod, Ukraine

It is with regret that I share the following news:

“The Board of Directors of Wesley Bible College of Ukraine announces the closing of the College in Uzhgorod, Ukraine, effective January 1, 2009.

Since the school suffered the devastating fire in Kiev in December 2005, it has experienced a steady decline in students and available teachers. With the impending departure of key missionary staff this spring, the Board felt it impossible for the college to continue to function and carry out its stated mission.

We express our deepest thanks to the countless Christians who have invested their prayers, financial support, time and talents to give Ukrainian young people the opportunity to learn and train for Christian service at Wesley Bible College.

Since 1993 it has been a conduit of light and blessing touching the lives of literally thousands of people through it students, staff, and multiplied ministries. That investment will pay dividends throughout eternity. There are scores of WBC alumni serving Christ today throughout the country of Ukraine and beyond.

While we mourn the closing of this first and only Wesleyan Bible college in Ukraine, we look to its many Alumni to someday build again a similar but more enduring institution to serve the churches and people of their beloved Ukraine.”
